Hi! I think that this should be the official NES lovers song. I wrote it myself, but I think all NES lovers agree with its spirit. This song should be sung to Bryan Adams' song, Summer of '69, but use the lyrics below. If anybody is a good singer and could remove Adams' voice from '69, and insert these lyrics, we would love to hear it!!! Summer of '89 Verse 1 I bought my real 8-bit, got it at the Toys R Us, played it 'til my thumbs bled, was the summer of '89. Me and some guys from school, started Ninja Gaiden and we tried real hard Jimmy quit, and Jodie got a Sega, should've known we'd never beat 6-2. Oh, but when I look back now, the summer seemed to last forever, oh and if I had the choice, well, I was one to be there, Those were the best days of my life. Verse 2 Ain't no use in complainin' when ya die for the 1000th time, I spent my evenings down at the arcade... and that's where I met you, YEAH!! Sittin' by the PlayChoice 10, you told me that we'd play NES forever, Oh, and when you held my hand, I knew that it was '89 forever, Those were the best days of my life. Bridge Man, we were killing time, we were young and restless, and NES made me go wild, I guess nothing could last forever, forever, NO! Verse 3 Oh now, how the times are changing, even Genesis has come and gone, sometimes when I play my old 8-bit, think about you, wonder what went wrong, Living in that Golden Age, you told me that we'd play NES forever, Oh, and when you held my hand, I knew that it was '89 forever, Those were the BEST days of my life. Fade Away Back in the summer of '89... just me and "The Wizard" in '89... oh yeah... it was, it was the summer of fun!!! Just me and my 8-bit in '89...
