My Tips For Getting Games To Work
Unfortunately, one of the downsides to playing the NES is the fact that after the system gets old, games stop working. This is because the old NES has you push the games in horizontally and down into the connectors. After wear and tear, the spring-coil action fails to connect all of the connects, and then your game doesn't work. How can you stop this from happening? I have some tips:
1) Buy the new NES (TOP LOADER). This is the by far the best tip. Due the top loading action of the new NES, the insertion is much more successful. If you buy a new NES, your problems will drop by 50 percent or more.
2) Buy a Nintendo Cleaning Kit. I still have my old cleaning Kit, and I also bought a professional one too. Let's face it, games get dusty. That's why we have dust covers. Dusty connectors will not connect.Cleaners are both cheap and easy to use. Usually, you have this stick with a flat end that's covered by some material. Take the stick, and move it back and forth by the connectors.(don't use your fingers to clean the connectors!!!) Buy a Cleaning Kit, remove the dust, and your game should work.
Now to the less reliable tips:
3) Breathe on the connectors. I'm serious, this works, and is one of the best known tips. Bring the cart to your mouth and exhale warm air onto the connectors. Then insert the game. You may need to repeat this a few times to get the game working.
4) Old NES tip: Jimming the cart. After inserting the cart and pushing it down, try using your pinkies to move the cart left and right. But for better results, try pushing the cart forward with your finger.
Now for the New NES tips:
5) Try inserting the cart straight down without rocking it. (rocking it to the left or right and hitting it with your fist like a hammer damages the system) If that doesn't work, try the tips listed above and GENTLY moving the game back and forth.
* Finally, How make the Game Genie work with the New NES.
6) Even though that the courts ruled against them, Nintendo make the New NES lock out the Game Genie so it wouldn't work. However, just call the 1-800 number on the Game genie and ask the for the New NES adaptor. It's free!
