This is not meant to offend anyone or their pages; this
is just how it is and how I think it should be. I do not want any flames
or arguements on this. The following contains vulgar language and may be
unsuitable for people who are not mature enough to handle it. So if you are
not mature enough to handle it please do not read on.
Emulation is a good thing. It allows people to play games they normally would
never even see, but assuming that there are 600 NES roms out there makes
me wonder why the hell we need thousands of sites to host them? The truth
is we don't. For the most part whenever advertised that a is an emulation
site you can ussualy expect to get there and find about 70 roms. All of them
being the most popular games that ever existed, and also the most common
games that there are. Do we really need to go directly to your site to get
that? No. The ideal situation would be that we delete all of these little
emulation sites with really nothing new or rare and take the roms and merge
them into one huge rom site. A site where you did not have to spend a hour
on the search engine looking for a rom (which is like searching for a needle
in a haystack) but just type in the name and download it. This will probably
never happen. To all those people thinking about starting an emulation site
all I can say is "don't,we do not need anymore ever!" If you are thinking
about hacking a rom go ahead but give it to a well recognized site, because
the more emulation sites out there with nothing usefull there are just means
the more crap we will have to sort through.
Undoubtly people will be angry over me saying this, but
there is no "NES Scene." Someguy who liked NES probably one day was sitting
around surfing the net and a name popped in his head...."The NES Scene" ,and
so he named a group of pages. In truth there is no "NES Scene" it is just
in your imagination. For one there are over 3,000 golf websites and there
is no golf scene. There are about 50 NES sites, but we have our own scene?
It is only a scene if people actually know about it. If you go out to the
public and ask them about "The NES Scene" the most common responce you will
get is "What the hell are you talking about?" That is because the NES is
dead in most people's eyes. It is only alive in the few who still play it.
We do not need a "scene" we need to lighten up and stop taking something
that doesn't even exist so seriously.
This is my opinion and if you flame me about it I really will not care.
