Review - My subjective review based on several factors (listed below). I will explain and comment on the plot, if there is one. Please keep in mind that some games had the plot totally changed from the Japanese to English version. Also, the people who design and develop the games didn't usually work directly with the people writing the manuals, which led to some pretty outrageous differences between what the game said versues the manual. Man, those were the days...
Final Grades - in the catergories of ...
Graphics - Did the game look like the Mosa Lisa or the inside of a paint mixer?
Sound/Music - Were the soundFXs riviting explosion or boring beeps? Did the music inspire you or put you to sleep?
Play Control - Does the game handle like a dream car or a pinto?
Challenge - How hard is the game? Can a blind three-year old beat it? Can any mortal beat it?
Packaging - how is the art of the cart of the game? Does did appeal to you and make you want to buy it?
Replay Value - Do you want to play this game all the time? Do you ever want to play it all?
Theme and Fun - It the game a good time or a waste of your time? Does the thought of playing ot make you cry?
Game Logic - Sure, video games don't conform to reality, but does the game defy its own physics. If you can't walk through wall, then can your enemies? If so, that's bad game logic.
Overall - the bottom line, the final grade based on everything that is... the game.
Game Goofs - A lot of NES games are from Japan, and we all know that nobody destroys the English langauge like the Japanese. Then again, a lot of American companies make dumb mistakes. This is devoted to exposing hideous errors that sometimes slip through the cracks...
Available Downloads - Things related to the game that you can download, such as manuals (text or scanned), Frequently Asked Questions and/or codes, and the game ROM itself. (A ROM is a computerized file of the game you can play on your computer. You will need to download first an emulator (I recommend www.zophar.net) to play the game. Of course, downloading a game you do not own is illegal, but at this point Nintendo doesn't care because they aren't making any money off the NES anyways.
